Requirements for Virginia School of Pet Grooming in Manassas, VA

Requirements for Entrance

No experience is required, but applicants must be at least sixteen years of age (with a guardian’s approval) and have a genuine interest in becoming a groomer. Prospective students must display a sincere love of animals and take part in a personal interview to determine if their expectations of the grooming industry are realistic. The application, once signed and approved by both parties and this Handbook, becomes a legal and binding contract.

Virginia School of Pet Grooming accepts students who are transferring from another grooming school and will accept their credit hours or time spent in a comparable course.

School Calendar

The beginning and ending times of the course offered are set at the time of enrollment and will be a part of the enrollment agreement. All scheduled classes run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Saturday. New starting students 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All students are required to attend at least two a month, or more if they so desire. Class hours may vary from student to student and on the assignments in which they are working. In any case, we want you to schedule yourself for those hours to be at school, so there will not be any outside scheduling problems. Due to the nature of grooming, break times and lunches may vary in the time and moments that they are taken. There may also be times when a student will need extra time with the instructor to cover troublesome areas. If this happens, we are pleased to set aside time after hours for any student who needs extra help.

Attendance Policy

Our students are expected to attend all classes. Records are kept on file on attendance. The length of attendance is determined by the first day of the student's attending class to the last day of attending class. Evaluation of performance will become a part of the student’s permanent file. An unexcused absence will not be tolerated. Up to four unexcused absences by the student will result in the student being withdrawn from school. More than fourteen now show absences will result in the student being dropped from the course. All absences must be verified by some document to explain the absence. For unexcused absences, please refer to the enrollment agreement under section 1.04 - Attendance.
